Our Public Sector Operations unit sits within the Business Operations service line. It will enable you to work with the latest technologies, as part of a team helping organisations transform their core business capabilities. Enabled by digital transformation involving on-premise systems, Cloud technology, or custom-developed solutions (to name just a few), your expertise will help clients deliver continuous improvement and innovation, from initial design right through to implementation and optimization.

While all consultants develop specialised knowledge as they progress within Deloitte, most are initially broad in their focus, meaning they do not need specific industry or functional expertise to be successful. For Managers who join as experienced professionals, this can mean building on previous knowledge or developing experience in an area that is completely new. We work across the Public Sector in Scotland, notably central government, transport, security and justice, health, and education – providing opportunities to work on the most transformational programmes in Scotland.

As a Manager in this practice, you will have the opportunity to be a future leader internally within Deloitte and in our client's eyes. You will have the chance to develop your skills in managing outputs, people, risks and budgets. You will take on responsibility as part of a diverse team within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution. In addition, this role will allow you to be creative in developing client solutions.

To be successful in this role you will work as part of a team of industry specialists providing consulting services to major Public Sector clients, so you'll quickly build upon your existing knowledge, to become an expert in your field.

As a Manager, your responsibilities will include:

• Owning and independently managing the end-to-end responsibility for the delivery of an engagement or major workstream – including developing work plans for engagements, proactively identifying and managing strategic risks, leading and supporting team members – to enable clients to achieve new performance highs.
• Managing the quality of team outputs presented for senior-level review (Deloitte & client)
• Managing and leading teams to deliver operations transformation for clients, often driven by new digital capabilities and services, in line with client net zero and sustainability ambitions.
• Building on your leadership skills and leveraging your interest to inspire others, nurture strong relationships, and create a true followership.
• Understanding and anticipating client needs based on a strong understanding of the Public Sector, developing strong client relationships.
• Working with a range of stakeholders across all levels – both internally within Deloitte and in client organisations
• Managing and coaching junior project members, supporting their wellbeing, development and career trajectory (c.5-7)
• Contributing to and leading on business development and practice management activity, in conjunction with more senior team members
• Proactively driving internal practice development by participating in proposition and methodology development and supporting knowledge capture and sharing

We look for talented problem-solvers with intellectual curiosity who are ready to be active members of a client team, as well as of the firm-wide community. Managers are typically involved in every phase of an engagement, from proposal research to final implementation.

The following qualifications are essential:

• A passion for making a difference to society through a balance of logical hands-on problem-solving skills and cutting-edge thinking.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the key issues and trends in Public Sector and subject matter expertise in one or more specific areas of delivery.
• Previous experience in Consulting – preferably in designing and delivering operating model, service design and/or digital transformation solutions.
• Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively (both verbally and in writing)
• Strong project management disciplines – including production of detailed project plans, and ability to juggle multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
• Proven leadership skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Experience of managing projects or workstreams on operational improvement, strategy or transformation projects
• Being a self-starter, able to independently operate in ambiguous and rapidly changing circumstances.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and create an inclusive environment with people at all levels of an organisation.
• Have a proven record of building strong relationships and ability to use a range of influencing styles to reach successful outcomes and demonstrating the firm's values.
• Ability to work effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Some of our projects require the highest level of security clearance so we would welcome applications from individuals with SC or DV clearance. Personal independence

Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints (e.g., in relation to any financial interests and employment relationships). This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm, and also prohibitions on certain employment relationships (e.g., you are not permitted to hold a secondary employment role with SEC audit clients of the firm whilst being employed by the firm). Our hybrid working policy.

You'll be based in Edinburgh with hybrid working. Our hybrid model enables our people to collaborate, connect and innovate in both a virtual and physical capacity. As well as remote working, you'll attend your local office, virtual collaboration spaces and client sites, depending on the requirements of the role.
