    What you'll be doing:

    • Technical development of one or more areas of DO-178C compliant Software Engineering Processes and Standards including the specification of tools
    • Perform a technical programme integration role including overall planning, scheduling and status reporting within the Software Enterprise team
    • Conduct work in accordance with agile management approaches (e.g. roadmaps, plans, incremental development, sprint planning, DSUM and sprint reviews)
    • Perform overall co-ordination and reporting of work across the team and stakeholders
    • Establishing the strategies in adopting and using processes, methodologies and technologies
    • Manage / help / direct a less experienced Software engineers

    Your skills and experiences:

    Essential:

    • A degree in a STEM subject or equivalent relevant experience
    • Experience of formal software development processes, methodologies and tools especially for airborne or embedded software
    • Experience of integration management of programmes, schedules and resourcing
    • Experience leading a team

    Desirable:

    • A working knowledge of the overall software engineering lifecycle such as D0178C or experience of developing embedded real-time applications
    • Experience of developing embedded real-time applications
    • Experience in leading work and teams

    The GCAP Software team:

    This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer team leader to join GCAP Software Enterprise as part of a major national and international collaborative programme which is critical to the future UK defence. The GCAP Software Enterprise is developing a set of Processes, Tools and Infrastructure to support rapid software development and delivery across Airborne (Mission Systems, Vehicle Systems) and Ground Based (Training, Mission Planning, Engineering Support etc.) systems.

    Working in this role the successful applicant will be responsible for overall integration, planning and release of Software Enterprise capability along with directing and co-ordinating development one or more areas of model-based process and tool development activities.
