Responsibilities

  • Liaising and collaborating with product control, risk management and quantitative departments on valuation and modelling issues
  • Being involved with Intramonth price testing to consensus, exchange, broker, or other data of pricing inputs and model outputs for fair value positions across asset classes
  • Discussing, reporting and escalations of price testing results with front office and senior management and having significant involvement in regional and global ad hoc projects
  • Working on creating solutions and improvements to the IPV process, this requires working with the “Change Management” team to enhance specification of technology requirements
  • Managing effectively relationships across departments and the desk and be able to communicate and challenge the Valuation control output across areas and products.
  • Being responsible for managing the delivery of key projects in pressurised circumstances as well as influencing others to do so
  • Supporting knowledge sharing within the team to drive a high performance culture
  • Seeking proactively opportunities for continuous development of personal capability and identifying potential sources for new ideas and approaches, leading to an improved performance

    As a Barclays Valuations Control Analyst, you will be part of the newly set up Valuation Control team in Glasgow reporting into the regional Head. Product Control Valuations is a control function responsible for providing independent oversight of the fair values associated with the firm's trading portfolios. Your primary duties will include performing regular independent price verification, providing oversight of provision and reserve methodologies and regular measurement and reporting of Regulatory Prudent Valuations.

    What we're looking for:

    • Sound financial product knowledge with Valuation concepts and attention to detail

    • Experienced with MS office

    • Excellent interpersonal skills and stakeholder management and ability to work independently to resolve unstructured problems; a team player

    • Exceptional communication skills and ability to present, explain complex issues in simple terms with stakeholders from Trading, Finance, market Risk and IT across different levels

    Skills that will help you in the role:

    • MSc in quantitative discipline or a similar qualification and/or professional qualification (e.g. CFA, FRM, ACA) is preferred

    • Experience in the Valuation Control / Product Control / Risk Management / Trading role of top tier investment bank preferred

    • Experience with Automation tools like python, alteryx/coding experience

    • Proactive and assertive in identifying control or valuation concerns and driving control improvement for their area; ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
