  • Manage and provide direction on all aspects of the external financial reporting process for the consolidated HSBC Group, ensuring we deliver high quality within strict deadlines.
  • Own and analytically review complex areas of HSBC Group's external financial reporting, which involves understanding the implications of various financial transactions on financial statements.
  • Implement the necessary control environment to provide assurance over consolidated financial information included in external publications.
  • Partner with subject matter experts in other finance functions, business, accounting policy and risk.
  • Interpret and communicate complex financial concepts to senior stakeholders, including the Group Audit Committee (‘GAC') via written GAC papers.
  • Drive deep dive reviews of financial reporting areas, and initiatives to optimise and automate our reporting processes.
  • Be required to act as deputy FR Lead as and when required, including dealing with senior stakeholders and managing the Group FR team.

    In this role you will:

    Requirements

    To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

    • Relevant financial reporting experience with a large financial services institution, preferably in a Group capacity.
    • Fundamental understanding of the external disclosure requirements for a large organisation, preferably a financial institution.
    • Knowledge of consolidation and Saracen is desirable.
    • Strong knowledge of IFRSs, awareness of best practice financial reporting and reporting challenges. Knowledge of other relevant regulatory reporting is a bonus.
    • Ability to field, analyse and solve unstructured problems / queries and to challenge existing procedures.
    • Ability to partner with subject matter experts in other finance functions, business, accounting policy and risk on external disclosure requirements and financial reporting questions / challenges.
    • Ability to communicate complex financial issues to management and other senior stakeholders both written and verbally.
    • Ability to design, document and communicate analytical procedures to provide assurance over external financial statements.
    • Experience managing a team as well as internal and external stakeholders.
    • Experience implementing process optimisation or automation is desirable.

    This role is based in London, Hybrid.
