  • Assists the development of the first line control management centre of excellence that supports safe growth and enables high quality customer service.
  • Support in the design, implementation and maintenance of a structured programme of data-led control monitoring for Finance
  • Control monitoring extends to all activities to demonstrate adherence to all non-financial risk requirements under related risk policies
  • Supports Finance in ensuring controls are operated within the requirements of all compliance, operational and conduct risk policies, standards, and methodologies.
  • Manages relationships with risk and control owner teams and acts as their control management business partner
  • Manage, monitor and test the effectiveness of designed controls to support the delivery of regulatory and operational risk objectives within stated risk appetite and provide consistently fair outcomes for customers
  • Supports the wider Finance control office team in the development and implementation of process and control mapping against strategy
  • Leverage insight on controls to identify issues and deliver remedial actions as appropriate.
  • Supports wider Finance control office in the risk owner support of the remediation plans to address High Priority Actions/Audit findings.

    JOB TITLE: Finance Chief Control Office Manager

    LOCATION: Edinburgh

    HOURS: Full time

    WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days a week) in our Edinburgh office.

    About this opportunity

    This role presents an opportunity to join the team and support the Finance Chief Control Office within Group Finance Support (GFS) & Finance Data Analytics Office (FDAO) to co-ordinate and deliver a broad range of activities that focus on how Group Finance as a function manages its Non-Financial risk.

    This manager role is within our Control Optimisation & Testing team which is a core part of the Finance Chief Control Office.     Within this role you'll support in the development and implementation of a plan to test Group Finance Non-Financial risk controls, monitoring the control environment to ensure alignment to the Group's Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF).

    There will also be opportunity to support the wider Control Office team in shaping our plans to optimise and automate the control environment to enable the delivery of customer, regulatory and business strategic outcomes.

    You will play a key role in analysis and investigation of the Finance Non-Financial Risk control environment to support robust risk management in alignment with the Group's Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF).

    What you'll need:

    • Financial Accounting background to apply expertise on challenge for Non-Financial risk categories across accounting processes and systems.
    • Existing operational expertise aligned to management of Non-Financial Risk across Operational Resilience, Security, Sourcing, Compliance, Economic Crime, Change and IT systems within a Finance function.
    • Applies expertise in relation to the impact of these Non-Financial risk categories with the skillset to challenge risk and control owners on the end to end management of risk within a Finance landscape.
    • Has SME knowledge of how the LBG Risk Management framework applies to key Group Policy requirements in the context of Finance operationally.
    • Strong understanding of control management and the practical implementation across relevant business area with a record of leading control design, optimisation, testing and monitoring activities.
    • Strong ability to understand and assimilate different sources of data and complex information to effectively problem solve and make relevant conclusions and recommendations.
    • Builds partnerships and works collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives. Able to work effectively with all other lines of defence and understands the different but complimentary roles.
    • Future focused by being able to conceptualise and articulate a customer centric desired end state that has clear line of sight to our Group Strategy.
