    Job title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

    Salary: Circa £50,000, depending on skills and experience

    What you'll be doing:

    • Working with Mechanical Engineers to develop mechanical interfaces to the combat system hardware design solution
    • Developing Mechanical engineering design solutions across the full Engineering Lifecycle, applying best practice and Design for Manufacture principles
    • Specifying/defining materials, tolerances, finishes, strengths, and weights of components
    • Substantiating the integrity and performance of new designs within their operating environments
    • Creating and compiling data packs to support build to print manufacture, including detailed manufacturing drawing & BoM development

    Your skills and experiences:

    Essential:

    • Experienced Mechanical/Design Engineer, preferably with significant demonstrable experience of developing and delivering novel electro-mechanical solutions
    • Highly proficient in 3D CAD and PLM, preferably Autodesk Inventor and Vault
    • Experience of design for manufacture (conventional metal working processes) and application to design process
    • Experience of manufacture processes and inherent design limitations/considerations (i.e., machining, sheet metal work)
    • Experience of designing challenging technical solutions to detailed requirements

    Desirable:

    • Qualified to degree level, or equivalent, in relevant engineering
    • Experience in packaging COTs electronics, data centres and/or rack installation on ships/rugged installations
    • Experience of designing products in a highly regulated industry sector
    • Experience of all phases of the engineering lifecycle and configuration control systems
    • Experience of undertaking peer reviews and presenting to design review panels
