Responsibilities

  • Scanning the external environment for trends and shocks that may create opportunities or risks for the plan, undertake scenario planning and recommend responses
  • Working in collaboration with Group Strategy and stakeholder teams to ensure the clients UK plan is fully integrated and aligned
  • Being responsible for developing a market and competitor insight and analysis capability to promote greater “outside in” thinking across the business
  • Contributing to internal and external (regulatory) reporting activity in collaboration with Director of Business Planning
  • Being responsible for summarising key trends and assessing relative performance of BUK against key competitors
  • Identifying risks and opportunities to gain competitive advantage and driving business results

    As a Barclays Business Planning Strategic, you will be responsible for designing implementing and embedding strategic horizon scanning into the BUK Quarterly Integrated Planning cycle. In this role, you will report into the Director of Business Planning. This role will require someone with a combination of strategic, analytical, and stakeholder management skills. Success in this role demands strategic and financial skills coupled with exceptional data presentation skills.

    This role will be based from either London or Northampton.     What will you be doing?

    What we're looking for:

    • Experience in Strategic Analysis, Business Planning & Competitive/Regulatory Insights

    • Knowledge and understanding of Technology Trends (AI/data analytics, fintech and martech)

    • Exceptional presentation skills and ability to distil complex data into compelling story

    • Change or transformation management and programme management experience

    Skills that will help you in the role:

    • Business or scenario modelling (excel skills)

    • Graduate calibre with significant commercial management experience across a number of business disciplines

    • An understanding of the business strategy and ability to ensure projects are delivering to that strategy

    • Ability to manipulate reports and evaluate data to put forward recommendations and suggest new way of working

    London:

    In the heart of Canary Wharf, our headquarters at Churchill Place boasts onsite amenities such as; a gym, staff restaurant and deli bar, and is easily accessible by tube and bus links. With a population of around 5000 staff the atmosphere is second to none with a real buzz being created around the offices within.

    Northampton:

    Northampton was the birthplace of Barclaycard in 1966 and we've been based in Pavilion Drive since the building opened in 1997. This state-of-the art energy efficient building holds up to 2,500 staff. The office location is perfect for travel from the midlands and London alike as we are based just off the A45, it is easily accessible by both car and bus routes.
