Responsibilities

  • Taking ownership of compliance processes, including the preparation and finalisation of CT returns for group entities, ensuring adherence with appropriate risk management principles.
  • Supervising tax reporting matters, including preparation of tax accounting and reporting disclosures for individual entities and as part of quarterly group reporting cycles.
  • Maintaining relationships with important internal customers and acting as their business partner, while taking mentorship from their senior peer group.
  • Identifying shortcomings, suggesting improvements and implementing approved revisions to current compliance processes, systems and procedures including consideration of technology and data changes impacting CT processes
  • Providing advice and insight on the application of processes and policies, monitoring implementation of procedures within the team and wider impact for business and finance stakeholders.

    Salary; £68,202 - £75,780

    LOCATION(S): Edinburgh

    HOURS: Full time

    WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in an office site

    About this opportunity

    We are looking for a Corporate Tax professional to join our Tax team in Edinburgh. This role involves working as a leader in a team and providing informative, high quality sophisticated output and advice. In this role you will be delivering influential insight and guidance on the Group's tax affairs, to assist decision-making and ensuring compliance obligations are met.

    Day to day you'll be:

    What you'll need

    • Experience in UK Corporate Tax compliance and accounting (specifically IAS12), whilst demonstrating a sound understanding of legislation and applicable case law.
    • Professional qualification (either accountancy or tax specific such as ATT/CTA), with strong knowledge of UK Corporation Tax are both essential requirements for this role.
    • Experience in preparing and reviewing CT returns and related tax accounting/disclosure matters.
    • Strong, natural relationship management skills, with the ability to analyse, challenge and influence.

    And any experience of these would be really useful

    • A good understanding of risk expectations for a tax function impacted by SOX, Senior Accounting Officer and Public Tax Strategy regimes.
    • Curious about learning how to use technology solutions to provide efficiencies in the team.
    • Proactive engagement in self-development and professional training initiatives, as well as guiding other team colleagues.
