Responsibilities

  • Possess Equity Accounting knowledge
  • Preserve General Ledger (G/L) accountability with the proficiency to research and respond to G/L questions/inquiries
  • Ensure accuracy in preparing and posting timely financial reports and uphold appropriate accounting procedures and controls
  • Maintain necessary working papers related to journal entries and reconciliations
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects, reporting, and initiatives as assigned by the manager of Corporate Accounting
  • Support in external and/or internal audit engagements to include preparing and scheduling audit materials, responding to audit inquiries and monitoring engagement progress
  • Partner with appropriate internal and external stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve accounting and reporting issues
  • Diligently file and organize financial documents such as bank statements, contributing to the systematic documentation of our financial history, in compliance with policies and procedures
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, including preparing journal entries, reviewing and adjusting the trial balance, calculating accruals and deferrals, performing balance sheet reconciliations and balance sheet account analysis
  • Performs all job duties as assigned

    Staff Accountant

    We are seeking a full-time Staff Accountant to join our Finance team in Tampa, FL. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining financial integrity, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and contributing to the overall success of our organization. The role is responsible for maintaining financial reports, records and general ledger accounts as well as performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations. To be successful as a Staff Accountant, you should be able to accurately maintain a general ledger and ensure firmwide compliance. An outstanding staff accountant should also have excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills. This position reports directly to the Manager of Corporate Accounting.

    Qualifications:

    • 2-5 years experience (professional service firm preferred)
    • Possess a Bachelors degree or higher in accounting, economics, or finance
    • Analytical thinker with the ability to research, problem solve, and resolve reconciling items through applying appropriate offsets
    • Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in Excel
    • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to adapt to changes
    • Ability to collaborate in a team environment, as well as be a self-starter to accomplish tasks independently

    The salary range is $55,000 - $70,000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, A&M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance. Please ask your recruiter for details.
