    Associate Director, Lab Head in vivo Immunology

    As the lab head for Cellular and in vivo Immunology, you will be in charge of preclinical in vivo and cellular immunology readouts in the viral vaccines R&D department. In this role you will be responsible for the operational planning of studies and timely delivery of results, supervising a team of scientists.

    Key Responsibilities:

    The Preclinical R&D department, including the Immunology group, works in a matrix environment to support Project Teams developing a rich pipeline of new vaccine assets that meet important medical needs. In addition, Preclinical R&D is at the forefront of vaccine discovery, by using and establishing state of the art technological capabilities.

    Your responsiblities as Lab Head include:

    • Plan the operations and timely execution of preclinical studies involving testing in animal models and related cellular readouts
    • Deliver high quality pre-clinical immunology data for Vaccines discovery and development teams, regulatory files, global patents, governing bodies and peer reviewed scientific journals
    • Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders; this includes the participation in project meetings and interacting with Project Leaders and Expert Scientists, showing strong scientific leadership
    • Deliver concise reports and summaries of operations and results
    • Create a work environment that attracts and retains the best people and delivers outstanding performance
    • Be on top of latest scientific developments and technical advancements in the field of animal models and cellular readouts related to vaccine discovery and -development
    • Take full accountability of management tasks for the team and meet data integrity and quality expectations
    • Participate in IP and regulatory filings and publishes in peer reviewed journals

    Why You?

    Basic Qualifications:

    • PhD in Immunology or PhD in Life Sciences/Veterinary degree at least 5 years of experience with in vivo immunology, viral infection animal models OR a Masters degree with at least 7 years of experience with in vivo immunology, viral infection animal models
    • Three or more years of experience in in vivo models to assess immunogenicity of vaccines, ideally expertise in viral infection models.
    • Two or more years of experience supervising a team of scientists and technicians
    • Three or more years of hands-on experience and excellent understanding of flow cytometry and in vitro functional assays (ELISPOT, T cell stimulation assays, Cytokine release assays etc) and data analysis

    Preferred Qualifications:

    If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

    • Experience with RNA immunology and/or animal models to test reactogenicity
    • Prior experience in working in a GLP/GCLP environment
    • Excellent track record in immunology and animal models, viral infections, evidenced by scientific publications and patents.
    • Fluent in written and spoken English
    • Prior experience in vaccine discovery
