Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with our contracted Service Partners who run facility services on site and oversee management monitoring and self-inspection programs to ensure reviews are conducted with an appropriate level of rigor in accordance with an agreed schedule.
  • Build relationships with key R&D leaders and partner to identify, evaluate and resolve business driven variations to service.
  • Lead investigations and mitigation plans at the site for significant service failures, critical / major audit findings, dispute resolution and process improvements.
  • Champion implementation of engineering standards, change controls and process improvement initiatives into site delivery teams. Identify and implement areas for EHS risk reduction and environmental sustainability.
  • Named Technical Authority and GSK Responsible Person (within GSK's Engineering & Statutory Duty Holder Framework) specializing in one or more of the High Severity Risk statutory systems to ensure compliance with Engineering and Environmental Health and Safety requirements.
  • Technical engineering representative on capital projects to ensure projects are designed and delivered in accordance with external and internal GSK engineering/EHS standards.
  • Manage the site engineering and operations activity and verify, through management monitoring, that the site is a safe place to work, compliant with national, local and GSK standards, and “Inspection Ready” at all times.
  • Partner with our contracted Service Partners to understand site facilities, utilities and service development needs on site and ensure this informs the site budgeting process and capital planning through R&D Engineering Services leadership.
  • Execute remediation plans from policy gap assessments. Escalate risks and/or conflicts with local customer's ways or working.
  • Deploy compliance processes locally and identify/escalate operational risks to governance teams.
  • This position will be responsible for ensuring a Utility Master Plan (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Boilers etc) exists and is aligned with the sites overall Master Planning efforts and for ensuring a robust Life Cycle Asset Management (LCAM) program exists for the site. Will develop and deliver the site Carbon reduction and Net Zero strategy aligned with the company stated goals.
  • Promote and enhance guidance and procedures for the procurement and installation of equipment and systems as an engineering control (procured via R&D M&E, SMW or Capital Projects). Ensure a framework is in place to ensure there is a high level of compliance to guidance and procedures

    GSC R&D Engineering Services provides Facilities Management and Capital Projects delivery for Technical R&D sites within GSC's Engineering and EHS organization.

    This role will provide ongoing engineering support to R&D Site Operations, responsible for Facilities Services and Capital Projects program management. This will include the development and improvement of processes that support the operational delivery model and interfaces with other GSK functions, service partners and other 3rd party providers.

    The purpose of this role is to manage the consistent delivery of facilities and services, working to ensure they are aligned to the local needs and priorities of the business, and to ensure that cost, quality and compliance metrics are achieved by key contract partners.

    This role will foster a culture of transparency and trust with operations teams, service partners and customers by being present a minimum of 4 days on site per week.

    In this role you will:

    Why you?

    Qualifications & Skills:

    We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

    • Bachelor's Degree in relevant discipline (Elec, Mech or Chem)
    • 5+ years' engineering or facility operations experience in the pharmaceutical industry, manufacturing, or other large, regulated industry
    • 3+ years' experience in technical engineering and statutory requirements related to mechanical, electrical and/or process engineering infrastructure systems.

    Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

    If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

    • Understanding of R&D operations and GxP activities
    • Master's degree in engineering or business
    • Full member (or working towards full membership) of a recognized engineering body.
    • Ability to understand and apply engineering principles.
    • Experience with management of facilities service contracts
    • Experience and knowledge of industry standards and country legislation.
    • Ability to act as a role model for applying standards to ensure compliance.
    • Ability to establish strong working relationships with key external contract partners, to deliver appropriate site services in agreement with established contracts.
