  • Collaborating and executing on a comprehensive external communications plan which aligns to the business strategy
  • Assisting with global Investment Bank awards processes, including helping with the pitch procedure
  • Determining and leading strategic media meetings with business spokespeople
  • Planning global media strategy for Barclays' Investment Bank business through partnership with a global team and with key editors, columnists, and influencers
  • Assisting in the execution of Barclays' Investment Bank strategic spokesperson strategy, ensuring our spokespeople can speak on a variety of corporate strategy and market landscape themes
  • Offering support on monitoring, measurement, and evaluation of Investment Bank media activity
  • Monitoring and evaluating media coverage relating to Investment Bank businesses as well as assisting with quarterly coverage reports for the business

    As a Barclays Senior Media Relations Manager, you will be a key member of the Corporate Communication and External Communications team, working within the team accountable for creating high-quality communications strategies for the Investment Bank within Research, Equities, and Markets. You will support the creation and delivery of the external communications strategy and plan, promote, protect, and defend the businesses' reputation; and manage the delivery of external communications activity across a range of businesses, topics, and themes.

    Salary / Rate Minimum: $170,000

    Salary / Rate Maximum: $200,000

    What will you be doing?

    What we're looking for:

    • Significant years of PR experience, gained either in a PR agency or in-house environment supporting investment banking, research, equities, and markets

    • Established relationships with editors, reporters, opinion-formers, and columnists at tier-one financial news outlets – primarily Bloomberg, the WSJ, Reuters and the Financial Times

    • Previous experience working in financial services and ability to understand technical subjects

    • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Economics, or a closely related field

    Skills that will help you in the role:

    • Experience in proactive and reactive media relations gained either in agency or in-house, covering a fast-moving, news environment

    • Experience delivering and executing creative campaigns and press office activity to build advocacy and reputation

    • Excellent working knowledge of US national, regional and trade media, and of the US media landscape

    Where will you be working?

    You will be working at our Americas Headquarters at 745 Seventh Avenue. This 37-story office tower is located in Times Square in the heart of Manhattan and features a cafeteria, fitness centre and state-of-the-art LED signage on the facade of the building.
