  • Providing advice regarding H&S and fire safety in region and ensuring that functional standards and procedures are designed and deployed that minimize harm to people risk
  • Maintaining ISO 45001 certification in region across key strategic sites
  • Conducting a program of documented health and safety risk assessments and inspections to ensure compliance across the region
  • Providing Barclays senior leadership with data that accurately reflects functional H&S performance
  • Helping in the emergency preparedness and response
  • Investigating accidents, incidents, and near miss events to determine root causes and work with functions to implement corrective measures to prevent reoccurrence
  • Assisting the Global H&S Projects Leads on capital projects
  • Ensuring that H&S vendors deliver quality when providing their services to assigned function

    As a Barclays US Health and Safety Manager, you will play an important part in the Bank's control and assurance program by reviewing, implementing and monitoring Health and Safety (H&S) compliance and initiatives along with educating, creating and maintaining solid networks across the entire organization. This team designs and delivers the Group H&S Policy by providing advice on the design of Standards and Procedures that control harm to people risk throughout Barclays.

    What will you be doing?

    What we're looking for:

    • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Public Health, Environmental Health and Safety or equivalent experience

    • Prior experience working in Health and Safety, performing safety investigations and/or inspections

    • Excellent verbal, written and negotiation skills; Ability to produce high quality information and documentation for senior management

    • Proven ability to adapt to changing requirements, re-prioritizing, and changing course as necessary, supporting the team in making necessary changes

    Skills that will help you in the role:

    • Working knowledge of ISO 45001

    • Health and Safety certification(s), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP)

    • Demonstrated understanding of Federal, State and Local health and safety laws and regulations

    • Well versed in evaluating workplace hazards, such as construction and fire safety
