  • Supporting the development and delivery of robust value for money proposals, satisfying the requirements, enhancing mission systems capabilities and achieving results to time, cost and quality
  • Contributing to the engineering activities carried out within your area of the FCAS Mission Systems Delivery Team in an efficient, effective way that are compliant with legal and regulatory obligations and relevant Air Sector mandates
  • Day to day interface with other team members and stakeholders with the FCAS Mission Systems Delivery Management Team for computing technology programmes
  • Computing and core avionics activities
  • Understanding and developing requirements for complex computing HW/FW within FCAS, across Platforms and Support solutions, encompassing existing Secure Application of Safety / Cyber / Performance characteristics via Hardware configuration
  • Various aspects of the engineering life cycle; including Engineering Planning and delivery, governance, configuration control, maturity management and reporting into project and engineering reviews (including tailored LCM reviews)

    What you'll be doing:

    • Supporting the development and delivery of robust value for money proposals, satisfying the requirements, enhancing mission systems capabilities and achieving results to time, cost and quality
    • Contributing to the engineering activities carried out within your area of the FCAS Mission Systems Delivery Team in an efficient, effective way that are compliant with legal and regulatory obligations and relevant Air Sector mandates
    • Day to day interface with other team members and stakeholders with the FCAS Mission Systems Delivery Management Team for computing technology programmes
    • Computing and core avionics activities

    Your skills and experiences:

    Essential:

    • Knowledge and experience in digital electronic design and programmable logic devices, such as CPLDs and/or FPGAs
    • Knowledge and experience in hardware description languages (HDL/VHDL)
    • Familiarity of using Simulation/Modelling tools, such as Matlab and Simulink
    • Appreciation of software programming/scripting languages (Python, C++)
    • Awareness of product security and safety

    Desirable:

    • Working knowledge of standards such as DEF-STAN, MIL-STD, RTCA DO

    The MSDT Core Computing Team:

    An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen within the Mission Systems Delivery Team for a Hardware Integration engineer.

    You will work as part of a Systems Engineering team using Safety / Cyber / Technical Protection engineering methodologies in Hardware to enhance and enable the System Design for FCAS Mission Systems. The FCAS core computing system has interfaces into many other parts of the FCAS aircraft's mission and flight systems, providing the opportunity to gain a wide range of knowledge and to specialise in areas of interest, including cryptography, cyber security, technical protection, safety compliance and secure / safe networking.
