    Job Description

    Job title: In-Service Support Electronics Engineer

    Location: Broad Oak. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

    Salary: Up to £55,210 depending on skills and experience

    What you'll be doing:

    The role holder will undertake some or all of the following tasks:

    • Design and development of electronic assemblies, from specification through to release into service
    • Maintenance of existing designs and implementation of technology insertion programmes
    • Ability to support off site trials activities
    • Support the testing of high voltage alternators using bespoke test equipment
    • Conduct testing on board customer platforms
    • Translation of requirements into design detail
    • Component selection, schematic capture, and support to PCB layout
    • Specification of bespoke procured items
    • Interfacing with related disciplines including mechanical/thermal engineering, ILS, Safety, and Production
    • Able to follow the engineering lifecycle and undertake progress, peer and design reviews
    • Design, develop and demonstrate system integrations
    • Analysis of fibre optic systems using power meters and OTDRs

    Your skills and experiences:

    The role holder will have a degree or equivalent in Electronic Engineering or strongly related subject, and have experience in one or more of the following areas:

    • Previous experience of operating in a defence or high safety integrity environment
    • Experience of generating component level designs for introduction into volume production using computer-aided engineering
    • Demonstrable expertise in analogue circuit analysis
    • Sound understanding of basic analogue signal processing techniques such as active filtering
    • Understanding of good power supply discipline and decoupling
    • Experience of analogue to digital and digital to analogue conversion
    • Integration, design proving and defect resolution

    Desirables:

    • Experience in, Fibre Optics, Power electronics, Test and measurement techniques would be advantageous
    • Ability to work with a PCB designer and advise on circuit layout for EMC
    • CEng or equivalent level of capability or working towards CEng status

    The Underwater Weapons team:

    As an In-Service Support Engineer, you will be responsible for the electronic aspects of torpedo design, repair, and maintenance. The role will provide you with the opportunity to join various complex development projects. You will see various stages of the lifecycle and contribute through these phases.
