    What you'll be doing:

    • Perform high level calibration and repair of Mechanical TMDE, including technical investigations / review of non-conformances with specialist support
    • Write, review and approve calibration procedures and measurement uncertainty budgets
    • Deliver target driven on the job training to apprentices, interns and placements
    • Take part in UKAS (ISO 17025) audits and achieve UKAS signatory status
    • Professional communication with technical stakeholders on instrumentation / calibration topics, including consultation on new measurement technologies

    Your skills and experiences:

    Essential:

    • Extensive experience in a precision metrology laboratory environment
    • Extensive understanding of quality systems & standards (ISO 9001, ISO 17025)
    • Relevant academic qualification (STEM Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent)

    Desirable:

    • Existing UKAS signatory status for Mechanical Calibration
    • Experience in creation of measurement uncertainty budgets to ISO 17025 level
    • Experience in use of automation software (Fluke Metcal, Met/Track, Met/Teams, Labview)
    • Experience in other calibration parameters (Dimensional / Temperature / Electrical)

    The Instrumentation team:

    You will calibrate and repair mechanical test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) in a controlled environment, as well as designing & maintaining calibration procedures and measurement uncertainty budgets. The calibration department currently supports 30,000 pieces of equipment per year, ranging from traditional analogue equipment through to state-of-the-art digital systems.
