  • Conduct routine process audits within production areas to investigate defect trends and facilitate improvement

    What you'll be doing:

    • Working with state of the art automated robotic welding equipment fitted with advanced laser scanning systems and optical control responsible for performing fault analysis, corrective actions, programme modification, system updates and configuration management

    Your skills and experiences:

    • Extensive experience with ABB IRC5 robotic welding systems including programming, fault finding and rectification, use of optical sensors for searching and joint tracking systems, PLC HDMI interface and Robot Studio off line programming. Experience of working with other industrial robotics systems will be considered
    • Qualified to BSc/BEng level or equivalent in a relevant engineering subject
    • Demonstrable working knowledge of the main welding processes typically used for structural and piping applications within a heavy engineering environment
    • Ability to assimilate and process data from a range of sources and work independently or as part of a team as required

    The Robotics team:

    The robotics team, part of the Materials Technology Department, are responsible for technical support of state of the art robotic welding systems and identifying and implementing new advanced robotics and automated manufacturing systems to drive future success and maintain our position at the cutting edge of manufacturing technology.
