    Job Title: Principal Engineer – Mechanical Engineering

    Salary: £45,000+ depending on experience

    What you'll be doing:

    • Leading design and manufacturing solutions to support legacy and new Ocean Interface systems
    • Lead a small team of engineers from a technical perspective, delegating tasks, checking and approving technical documentation and overseeing the team's workload
    • Developing design solutions based on customer requirements, validating, and verifying through the design process
    • Lead and participate in internal and external design reviews and meetings with the customer
    • Act as the key point of contact with customers, suppliers and stakeholders on engineering solutions

    Your skills and experiences:

    • Degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline, with a high level of postgraduate experience
    • Experience leading design tasks across the entire product lifecycle in a production and/or prototype environment, considering requirements, product safety and integrity
    • Experience presenting design concepts, technical reports and specifications to stakeholders
    • CEng or ability to attain
    • Defence experience is desirable not essential

    The SSNA team:

    As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will be working within Ocean Interfaces as part of the delivery team within SSNA. The team rises to the global challenges and delivers design solutions for deployable assets on the future attack nuclear submarine. We design, procure and manufacture solutions by working closely with our customers and suppliers. SSNA is becoming a truly global endeavour with the AUKUS Submarine programme coming alive. We are quickly moving towards maturing designs and ordering long lead items so now is the team to make a change.
