  • Direct involvement with the design of our World Class Submarines, joining the team responsible for producing 3D models of Electrical Systems and Equipment Integration
  • Using the CAD toolset to produce 3D models of electrical routed systems and electrical equipment integration e.g. switchboards and power units etc.
  • Mature and develop 2D electrical schematics / system diagrams
  • Producing outputs (including 2D drawings and electronic data) to support manufacturing, installation and testing of our products
  • Developing and maintaining close working relationships with other design teams and stakeholders
  • Working as a team to produce an integrated design that meets the customer's expectations and agreed set of requirements

    What you'll be doing:

    Your skills and experiences:

    • Relevant apprenticeship, engineering qualification or previous experience as an Electrical Designer / Draughtsperson e.g. HNC, ONC or degree qualification in relevant STEM subject or equivalent work experience
    • Experience in electrical compartment integration and Engineering Standards at component and sub-component / assembly level
    • Knowledge and understanding of electrical routed systems at both 2D and 3D level
    • Understanding of CAD toolsets and techniques

    You will be supported in your role with training and mentoring from colleagues to ensure you are always set up for success. Your role will also include producing a Bill of Materials for your specific area in the Submarine Design, providing you with the interesting challenge of working with varied stakeholder groups to drive the successful resolution of design vs spatial problems. You can also enjoy a variety of future career progression choices across our numerous business areas; including Principal Designer or leadership roles within the team.

    These roles also offer paid overtime, subject to business requirements.
