Responsibilities

  • Role purpose:
  • (a) work alongside the Head of Legal, Legal Leadership team and senior lawyers to raise the profile and impact of the Business Legal team within the business;
  • (b) to own and drive Vodafone Business Security Enhanced (“VBSE”) Product Legal activities and projects;
  • (c) to work alongside Deals legal counsel in supporting VBSE related deals legal activities;
  • (d) work alongside Senior Counsel and Counsel in providing specialist and expert product legal, and, where required, deals legal,advice; and;
  • (e) drive Business legal transformation projects, process improvement and change innovation
  • Providing or procuring legal support and advice to the VBSE function.
  • Supporting VBSE in optimising digital customer journeys and contracting, where appropriate.
  • Advising on product launches/refreshes led by VBSE.
  • Supporting and advising on VBSE deals legal work where capacity allows and/or working alongside and coordinating deals legal colleagues on VBSE legal work.
  • Managing Business Legal priorities and resource planning using agile tools and processes.
  • Support the creation of UK Business contract documentation and input to Business Legal contract template strategy.
  • Working closely with the Group Business Legal Product team to develop and maintain an aligned product development and contracting approaches.
  • Providing expert advice on structuring, and drafting and negotiating contracts with suppliers, partners and customers required in the development and deployment of the UK Business Product catalogue
  • Developing relationships and with relevant individuals in other key functions outside VBSE involved in the development and/or deployment of VBSE Products, such as Regulatory professionals & Compliance, Commercial, Frameworks, Technology, Supply Chain
  • Regular liaison with Vodafone Limited's regulatory and compliance teams and the provision of commercial/product legal support on key regulatory projects.
  • Assisting in the development of best practice within Vodafone in relation to commercial and contractual matters with regard to product development and deployment.
  • Assisting in the training of teams within the VBSE function on key legal issues.
  • Advice in relation to VBSE marketing.Developing and maintaining efficient and effective relationships with the VBSE Marketing teams.
  • Assisting in the maintenance and evolution of Totem (Business Product Legal's database of live Business products and the Service Terms applicable to them)
  • Creating and evolving Product legal know-how, guidance notes and process improvements.
  • Input into and driving the programme of Product Legal training sessions such as “Product Meets Deals”

    What you'll do

    Who you are


    •University honours degree (second class or better).
    •Solicitor with high quality post-qualification legal experience in the commercial field
    •Solid grounding in commercial law and a good level of general legal knowledge.
    •Experience of OFCOM and/or FCA regulation is desirable but not a requirement.
    •Proficient drafting skills and able to draft standard commercial contracts, with ability to draft more complex contracts under supervision.
    •Good negotiation and influencing skills
    •Able to act unsupervised on standard commercial contracts and under supervision on more complex matters.
    •Sound commercial and legal judgement.
    •Ability to devise innovative solutions and lead change management.
    •Good decision making skills and ability to identify and communicate key risks to internal and external stakeholders
    •Excellent communication and organisational skills
    •You must be a UK resident and UK citizen, be able to work in the UK without restrictions and meet the UK government security vetting criteria up to DV.
