Responsibilities

  • Liaising with Compliance colleagues, Operations, and front office staff to investigate Surveillance alerts to identify potential instances of market abuse and other misconduct
  • Analysing data from other surveillance functions to detect suspicious client activity, and potential illegal or inappropriate employee conduct
  • Monitoring the efficiency and effectiveness of existing controls, propose enhancements and work closely with Surveillance Optimisation, providing check and challenge as appropriate
  • Assisting the Targeted Surveillance team to develop strategic reviews to proactively detect potentially suspicious business activity, and business /employee conduct risk
  • Supporting with delivery of management information by preparing metrics on key performance and risk indicators
  • Working with key stakeholders (e.g., Compliance, Technology, third party vendors) to identify, design and implement enhancements to surveillance programme
  • Assisting with delivery of strategic communications surveillance projects in addition to enhancement and calibration of existing controls

    As a Barclays Communications Surveillance Manager , you will be joining our Compliance team and helping to drive the right customer outcomes and protect the integrity of the financial services markets. You will be responsible for identifying Market Abuse and other misconduct risks within Barclays by analysing the output from the Communications Surveillance controls in accordance with relevant regulatory and legal requirements, firm policies, and industry best practices.

    What will you be doing?

    What we're looking for:

    • High degree of proficiency working with IT systems and comfortable operating in a technical environment

    • Good understanding of the FCA Market Abuse Regulation (MAR) and equivalent global regulations

    • Proven experience in Compliance/Risk divisions with Investment Banking product knowledge a distinct advantage

    • Quality Control or Quality Assurance experience

    Skills that will help you in the role:

    • People management or team leadership experience would be advantageous

    • Experience of working with large data sets
