As a Barclays Public Cloud Site Reliability Engineer, you will work in a team being part of the whole lifecycle of feature development, from solution design through to production support and back again, to help define future Site Reliability Engineer capability for the Bank. In this role, you will establish relationships with key stakeholders within Global Technology Infrastructure Services and across the technology organisation, currently migrating applications to public cloud focusing on the delivery of the underlying AWS platforms.

What will you be doing?

• Designing, assessing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems

• Developing effective tooling, alerts, and response to both identify and address reliability risks including automatic problem detection and mitigation

• Involving in every aspect of the platform from the earliest stage of product architecture, design and development to deployment

• You will be conducting performance analysis to ensure a reliable quality product in production as required

• Designing and building tools to observe and manage a rapidly growing number of products and services

• Taking initiative to do what must be done in order to keep critical systems operating

• Performing general Cloud service, OS, Web/Application server, database configuration, installs and automation

• Participating in an on-call rotation in a 24x7 environment

What we're looking for:

• Ability to problem solve, investigate particularly in Cloud with incident management experience

• Experience with configuration and troubleshooting of Public Cloud

• Willing to work in an ever-changing environment with a passion for sharing knowledge

• Knowledge of mathematical and statistical models to assess trends with a focus on customers

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Public Cloud certified for one or more of the following platforms, AWS, Azure, GCP

• Intermediate-level Python skills with ability to create and debug Jenkins Declarative pipelines

• ITIL Foundation Certificate, software delivery lifecycle and release management

• Wide knowledge of Operating Systems, the TCP/IP stack, network routing and load balancing

Where will you be working?

You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations. The campus is set in a 64 acre self-contained site, in a beautiful green environment and it offers unrivalled facilities for work and for play. We have an onsite gym, as well as outdoor tennis, football and cricket areas, as well as onsite restaurant and coffee shops.
