About the role

Our Propositions Design Team is essential in supporting the design and optimisation of Ocado's propositions, both for internal teams and our external partners. We have the opportunity for a talented designer to join their team, where they will be able to influence the development of Ocado's innovative product offering, ensuring products and optimisation initiatives work together cohesively as whole Propositions that realise value for our partners and their end consumers. Reporting to a Group Proposition Design Manager, you will have the opportunity to work in a fast paced and varied environment, collaborating across the design team, the wider business and with our global partners. Ultimately, this role provides a great opportunity to shape Ocado's future and the solutions we offer to our partners!

What you will be doing

The role will involve leading complex concept or project design activities, representing the Propositions Design Team to the wider business and beyond. On a daily basis, the role will involve:

  • Identifying opportunities to optimise how we apply Ocado's products in designs
  • Driving innovative design solutions, in order to reduce cost and/or maximise throughput for our partners
  • Using data, analysis and modelling to develop these optimisations, incorporating financial analysis as a method of justification
  • Working with others across the business to communicate optimisation initiatives, creating shared goals and gaining alignment with stakeholders
  • Independently prioritising design investigations based on the value that they will drive for customers, seeking support as needed
  • Working with our external partners to understand their design requirements, optimising the key metrics so as to achieve a cost efficient solution for all parties
  • Providing required design outputs to our internal projects teams and client partners, meeting the required scope and timelines

  • Has an analytical mindset, with strong numerical skills and is able to use data to tell a clear story
  • Is organised, detail-oriented and methodical in their approach, with a positive and ‘can-do' attitude
  • Can communicate effectively and challenge a wide range of stakeholders, managing conflicting opinions and holding them to account
  • Is comfortable with independent working, but is a team player who is able to escalate when necessary and contribute to the development of team processes
  • Can creatively solve complex problems in a fast-paced environment and across diverse teams
  • Has an understanding of the core components within business cases and be able to create high level paybacks
  • Has an understanding of other automation products on the market and their use in solutions design

Solution design or project management experience within logistics, e-fulfilment, manufacturing or similar FMCG environments is desirable, but not necessary.

Bonus points if you also have…

  • Previous Project Management training e.g. a formal project management qualification
  • Experience across multiple delivery methodologies e.g. agile, waterfall, scrum
  • Experience using Planisware, Oracle Fusion
