  • **Communications:**
  • Support the Precision Medicine LT in the design and delivery of the Precision Medicine Communication & Engagement plan and a simple compelling story that resonates and connects to the wider Development strategy and narrative.
  • Coordinate communication deliverables, including the creation of various communication materials, visuals, videos, animations, infographics, and creation of any specific campaigns necessary to deliver against business objectives in collaboration with the Leadership Team and potentially an external agency.
  • Leverage existing channels effectively (Intranet, Newsletters, Workplace, Surveys, e-mails, etc.) and ensure adoption and usage of any new communication channels.
  • Build communication capabilities within the organization, analyze feedback from various sources and support the LT in any additional internal communication needs.
  • Support the Business Operations lead to deliver impactful messaging and content for communication and engagement events with an initial focus on quarterly Town Halls / Let's Talks/LT Site engagement visits.
  • Support the SVP of Precision Medicine in their internal communications (drafting, coaching, designing) and at priority engagements within GSK and for external engagement.
  • Build further communication capabilities of Precision Medicine LT:Develop and strengthen key messages for Precision Medicine based on priority topics including organization change communications.Create training material/guidelines/reference documents to support and set standards for communications in Precision Medicine and their teams.
  • **Capability:**
  • Developing and maintaining the Precision Medicine capability development plan along with co-designing and implementing training materials and tools in collaboration with the broader Precision Medicine community in GSK
  • Actively partnering with HR and global learning functions to employ adult learning principles and leverage enterprise-wide approaches (e.g. leadership and coaching frameworks).
  • Establishing and leading a mechanism to periodically drive gap analysis and assessment of organizational capability needs - utilizing key performance indicators and feedback as a means of assessment. This should include intelligence gathering of future industry trends that will inform the future required capability profiles across Precision Medicine.
  • Implementing a GSK capability model with a developed assessment process for global consistency, performing external benchmarking for top-tier standards, and integrating learnings/behaviors to drive world-class performance within the organization.
  • Maintains the GSK Capability Framework ensuring that the capabilities, competencies and proficiencies reflect the required expectations.
  • Ensuring the deployment, visibility, and communication of effective learning methods e.g. Keep Growing campus, LinkedIn Learning, bite size learning, etc.
  • Ensure the embedding of effective knowledge management by championing an open learning culture that identifies and communicates key learnings within and across functions – these learnings should be aligned to organizational objectives.

Precision Medicine is a new GSK function within Development which aims to drive end-to-end clinical development of innovative therapies with clinical pharmacology, biomarker and diagnostic strategies, state-of-the-art platform analyses, and model-informed decisions to transform clinical care and drive meaningful patient outcomes​. ​Through this we inform the clinical development of the right medicine at the right dose (regimen) at the right time for the right patient supported with the right assays.

We are recruiting a Director Capability and Engagement to support the translation of our strategy to a clear connected narrative through effective communication and engagement both within our organization, across Development and ensuring alignment with the broader R&D narrative (in collaboration with the internal Communications team). This role in aggregate will be accountable for driving a learning and performance culture to strengthen the Precision Medicine technical competencies as part of overarching strategic objectives to build a new enhanced Precision Medicine Organization. The individual will report to the SVP of Precision Medicine and join the Leadership Team.

The individual will be comfortable working with senior stakeholders and able to foster a trusted relationship with the Leadership Team, bringing creative ideas to the table but also appropriately providing challenging ideas and options to better our communications.

The ideal individual will be a recognized as an expert in capability building and will be accountable to monitor and incorporate global industry best practices to ensure that the Precision Medicine capabilities and competencies are industry-leading. You will not only support the practice of Precision Medicine within Development but also work closely with key business partners (e.g. Human Resources, Communications and Government Affairs (CGA), R&D Culture & Engagement) and with Project teams and matrix function leaders, to maximize Precision Medicines' ability to deliver against strategic priorities and needs.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor's degree in scientific or related business discipline.
  • 5 or more years of pharmaceutical industry experience.
  • 10 years or more experience in designing and implementing communication approaches in Communication analysis and Demographic analysis.
  • Experience working with modern communication methods and create effective messaging for a global audience.
  • Experience working in a large matrixed and regulated work environment.
  • Experience working with Digital content.
  • 10 years or more experience in the development and delivery of training and capability development, particularly in highly technical or science-based fields.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Master's or PhD degree in Scientific, Quality, Education/Learning, or business discipline.
  • Experience working in organizations undergoing significant cultural and process change and associated change in ways of working.
  • Track record of employing highly sound technical and business judgment in solving complex business problems with high risk/impact to the organization.
  • Demonstrated skill operating in situations characterized by complexity, ambiguity, and high levels of uncertainty.
  • Highly effective influencing and negotiations skills in challenging, ambiguous and/or changing environments.
  • Highly effective verbal, written, presentation communications skills.
  • Experience working independently with senior executives and the ability to quickly build personal credibility and assimilate business issues/need.
  • Possess negotiation skills and ability to influence with or without authority at all levels of the organization.
  • High level of energy, enthusiasm, and commitment.
  • Ability to build credibility quickly across a diverse range of functional teams, seniority and geography.
  • Excellent organizational planning skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-moving environment.

  • A track record in leading a global project or function where people are challenged, developed and talent management is seen as a core competency for the future viability of the group.
  • Leadership of complex projects with significant organizational impact and proven track record.
