Responsibilities

  • Assisting with reviewing global regulatory requirements, emerging product and client risks/ issues with a view to improve Financial Crime governance, processes, and control design
  • Overseeing the performance of financial crime risk management functions, supporting new product approval processes, reviewing AML controls, giving advice on live CDD/EDD
  • Executing on the policies and standards dictated by the 2nd Line Financial Crime Compliance, managing the financial crime agenda, the onboarding, review and exit of higher risk clients
  • Maintaining excellent relationships with Barclays stakeholders and project resources for the delivery of Financial Crime change activity and conduct periodic reviews of AML controls
  • Being accountable for ongoing liaison with, and oversight of group functions supporting the Financial Crime control environment (e.g., Fraud and Global Surveillance & Transaction Monitoring)
  • Supporting with the completion of Financial Crime Management risk assessments; One Conduct Risk Assessment (One CRA) and Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCSA)
  • Implementing and operating reporting and MI to provide assurance to the Barclays Payments ExFo, 2nd LOD and external regulators
  • Preparing Financial Crime key risk assessments and presenting the assessments for Control Board approval and keeping up to date with current market information

    As a Barclays Fin Crime Advisory and Policy Manager, you will be acting as a key contact for Financial Crime referrals and driving the financial crime agenda for the Corporate, Investment Banks, Global Markets, and Payments businesses. Working to mitigate the risk that products and services for the purposes of money laundering, terrorist financing, or other financial crimes. Helping the Head of the function with Advisory to deliver detailed advice and guidance and providing subject matter expertise to the business and supporting functions.

    What will you be doing?

    What we're looking for:

    • Excellent commerciality, influential skills and detailed knowledge and advice on a wide range of financial crime matters

    • Advanced degree level education, recognized Financial Crime/ Anti-Money Laundering risk management qualification or equivalent - e.g., ACAMS, IRM, CIIA, ICA, etc

    • Comfortable in fast growing and complex environments and ability to move effortlessly between strategic topics to day-to-day regulatory risks

    • Good working knowledge of corporate and/or investment banking and/or the payments industry, client businesses, operations, and other high risk sectors

    Skills that will help you in the role:

    • Experience in Financial Crime in a global financial institution, technical knowledge of financial crime risk management frameworks

    • Experience of working in complex matrix structure that requires solid stakeholder management

    • Stakeholder management at Ex Co level with ability to create and maintain highly engaging relationships, challenging the status quo, and driving strategic solutions

    • Outstanding ability to effectively prioritise changing business needs and drive results with a diverse and inclusive style, which promotes advocacy

    You will be based in either one of the locations:

    Northampton/Birmingham/ Sunderland/ London

    Northampton was the birthplace of Barclaycard in 1966 and we've been based in Pavilion Drive since the building opened in 1997. This state-of-the art energy efficient building holds up to 2,500 staff. The office location is perfect for travel from the midlands and London alike as we are based just off the A45, it is easily accessible by both car and bus routes.

    Barclays Snowhill is at the heart of the professional district and commands a workforce of around 1000. With great transport links to Birmingham Grand Central and Snowhill train stations as well as the local metro. Our office has a dedicated staff coffee shop and deli and break out areas for staff. There is also a presentation theatre for client and staff events. Our office boasts a great working environment as well as opportunities to network across the city.

    Sunderland- With over 1,700 employees, our Flagship Site, Doxford Park, offers many facilities including a discounted gym, the convenience of an ATM and even a Personal Banker who visits regularly to assist all employees with their banking.
