Responsibilities

  • Our Data Domain team is essential to the success of Vodafone UK, this team is accountable for the architecture and design of our Big Data platforms, Data warehousing and Reporting practice. The Domain is currently going through a couple of major strategic initiatives were we are transforming our Big data and enterprise data warehouse estate into Google Cloud.
  • You will provide impact assessments, Blueprints, and roadmaps that align with our tech strategy whilst also providing high level designs, and review low level designs for projects.
  • You will provide architectural and design guidance for the migration of non-IT owned systems and legacy Data Domain systems to Cloud based solutions, processes, data and data models that can be re-used by other markets.
  • You will assist in the definition and governance of the Data Domain architecture, ensuring that it meets business requirements and performance goals, and that the technical direction is consistent with the strategy.
  • You will act as a functional end to end expert for a portfolio of related applications within the Platform Engineering team.
  • You will lead design reviews to ensure compliance to the target architecture throughout the development life cycle.

Salary: Excellent basic salary plus bonus and Vodafone benefits

Who you are
- You will demonstrate experience as an Architect / Data specialist with knowledge in architecture and design for data related platforms, who has an enthusiastic and keen attitude to developing knowledge in existing and upcoming technologies.
- You will have knowledge of data related platforms such as; (EDW, Operational Data Stores, ETL/ELT/EL, Data Lake, Big Data, SAS, Finhub, Calidua, etc
- You will showcase a high-level understanding on Cloud platforms, with a willingness to work towards certification on GCP.
- You will have preferably have experience in database design and data modelling, with an understanding and experience of enterprise metadata management tools
- You will have an appreciation of data security, governance and data migration on the impact this can have on the wider domain.
