Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for HSE matters for the Logistics regional management team.
  • Mentor and develop HSE team members, overseeing their development plans.
  • Monitor local compliance with HSE management systems, addressing shortcomings and highlighting trends.
  • Manage a team of HSE specialists, fostering a positive and pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
  • Support development projects for Ocado Logistics, offering guidance and best practice considerations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of HSE data by operational teams.
  • Contribute to environmental compliance and standards maintenance.
  • Promote a positive culture of health, safety, and environmental responsibility.
  • Analyse health & safety trends, advising operational management on improvement strategies.
  • Coach and develop regional operational teams on HSE management systems and standards.
  • Collaborate with external regulatory authorities as needed.

About the role:

Location: Hatfield - Head Office, Hybrid (2 days per week) - 12 Month FTC (Maternity Cover)

As an HSE Regional Supervisor at Ocado Logistics, your main goal will be to ensure the seamless implementation of our Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management system, ensuring that we always surpass regulatory requirements. You will take the lead in supporting our business clients, operational teams, and HSE Function members to benchmark their professionalism, expertise, and safety standards against world best practices.

Candidates with a background in Logistics (transport, warehousing), Automation, or Manufacturing & Packaging are most suited for this role. A minimum requirement of Nebosh (Construction or General) certification is necessary, along with at least 2 years of relevant UK experience. Additionally, candidates must have access to their own car and be able to commute across our sites.

You will:

About you:

  • Ability to translate legislation into clear business language.
  • NEBOSH General certificate / NVQ Level 5 (working towards), IEMA Level 2 (working towards level 4).
  • Tech IOSH / IIRSM membership.
  • Solid Health & Safety and people management experience.
  • Experience in a fast-paced automated logistics business.
  • Hands-on risk management experience/knowledge.
  • Proven and strong knowledge of UK HSE laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to compile detailed reports and make recommendations.
  • Pragmatic thinker with the ability to influence cultural change.
  • Experience in Engineering and Facilities Management.
  • Management qualification.
  • Training and project management experience/qualification.
  • CSCS card of an appropriate level.
