Strats bring together an entrepreneurial spirit and commercial acumen with a deep understanding of front-line business, combined with the ability to write production-level Python code, and strong mathematical, statistical and data analytics skills. The projects Strats run contribute directly towards the Financial Resource Management department's financial objectives through partnering with the other financial resource management (FRM) pillars (capital management, funding and liquidity, pricing, model advisory), supporting functions (Risk, Treasury, Finance, WCDAO, Technology), and working directly with commercial business lines.

We are seeking an experienced and intellectually curious person to work in the role of Associate Director, Strats, CMB Financial Resource Management.

This is a truly unique opportunity to join a high performing team within HSBC's Commercial Bank that has ability to influence profitability and the way we do business. We are looking for people who have worked in a strat/quant function elsewhere within the finance sector or who have experience of modelling and analytics within the Commercial Banking space. You will lead specific workstreams to identify opportunities to improve the profitability of the business using quantitative analysis, developing tools to monitor risks to profitability and leading cross functional teams to implement changes to the technology stack. As part of a global team you will work with multiple regional teams with a view to identifying best practice in terms of FRM and introducing those ideas and processes across regions. These include the use of technology, statistical analysis and risk management techniques as well as the enhancement of relevant models.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

• Extensive broad-based banking experience in financial services with preference for those who have focused on credit, rates, FX or cash management markets

• Experience with MLOps, Kubernetes/containerisation Thought leadership and innovative problem solving

• Strong numeracy skills with a background mathematical disciplines

• Knowledge of software development and experience in a range of coding languages e.g. Python, C++

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey information clearly and concisely to key stakeholders

• Strong influencing, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills

• Result oriented and team player who can foster strong and collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders
