If you are looking for your next step, we are building Deloitte's EMEA PE Centre of Excellence (‘CoE') We are seeking a high-performing Director who wants to build off their existing experience in independence compliance and use such knowledge to add value to Deloitte's quality and risk management practice, expand their knowledge of Independence rules, support business growth within the Private Equity (‘PE') sector and develop relationships with Private Equity Houses, and leaders across Deloitte's global businesses. As a Director in the CoE, you will be required to develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of your accounts, understand the permissible services and strategic objectives of that account and advise the business accordingly. You will sit on a number of independence related committees and feed in directly to the implementation our Private Equity strategy this role will work directly with cross boarder teams and senior leadership of the firm.

The Quality, Risk and Security (QRS) community is an overarching identity for all the professionals who manage quality and risk for Deloitte. This role will require engagement with senior stakeholders within the firm as well as priority Private Equity clients. The CoE functions as a business advisory function. Given the cross-geo nature of the CoE, the role requires collaboration with cross boarder teams.

This is a new growing team and a tremendous opportunity to contribute to a developing function with a direct impact on our strategic growth objectives.

Primary responsibilities will include:

• Lead on a number of PE accounts functioning as dedicated resource for selected complex Private Equity independence queries, providing advisory support to the Lead Client Service Partners
• Work with the existing stakeholders to establish relationships with priority Private Equity clients
• Extensively liaising with internal senior stakeholders and customers, building excellent relationships and providing valuable input
• Leading and developing wider team both locally and cross boarder by developing a positive, supportive working culture
• Supporting on a number of strategic PE Independence initiatives
• Interact with local and regional independence teams leveraging best practice and efficiencies
• Provide leadership & training to junior team members
• Signing off guidance for common service requests
• Assisting the account teams in developing and maintaining client relationships and supporting on business development opportunities
• Proactive strategic consideration of approach to regulation and policy, providing high quality analysis, research, and documentation to support solutions. This element will require the ability to see beyond the technical and consider practical application
• Responsible for specific PE clients in terms of delivery of the services and quality management, including accountability for team delivery, quality, forward planning and collaboration with key stakeholders
• Operational oversight of other independence functions to ensure timeliness and quality of work and issue resolution

Your professional experience

• Significant experience in independence
• Demonstrate track record of successfully delivering risk, compliance, or regulatory compliance programmes within a corporate background
• Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to manage and support multiple stakeholders.
• Ability to step in and step up when matters are escalated
• Experience within audit and/or private equity or a deep sector understanding of how private equity houses operate and transact
• Experience of leading cross locations / geos advantageous
• Experience in navigating and managing C-suite and other senior stakeholders
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• An analytical mindset and ability to assess and drive independence / risk / regulatory compliance initiatives
• Experience in managing and developing talent

Personal independence

Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints (e.g., in relation to any financial interests and employment relationships). This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm, and also prohibitions on certain employment relationships (e.g., you are not permitted to hold a secondary employment role with SEC audit clients of the firm whilst being employed by the firm).
