  • Take an active role in product innovation – leading by example by suggesting new technologies, approaches that we could leverage
  • Proactively make recommendations for enhancements to our delivery processes, and ensure adherence by our engineering team to the process
  • To work with lead engineers to identify, plan implement new best practices, tech upgrades etc (e.g. pipeline set ups, use of GitHub, Nod convo etc etc)
  • To proactively support in the architectural design of our products and identify emerging risks
  • Provide technical solution guidance to the scrum team, support the resolution of blockers and escalate unresolved blockers to the Digital Briefcase leadership team
  • Produce technical diagrams and documents where necessary to provide clarity to the development teams to work efficiently
  • Work closely with DevOps engineer and oversee DevOps activities such as CI/CD pipelines on Azure DevOps
  • Work with NSE Cloud, Member Firm and Global teams to raise and resolve infrastructure-related issues
  • Identify new tools and processes to improve the development and delivery of applications and automate processes
  • Undertake mentoring responsibilities for junior developers
  • Resource planning and allocation (in collaboration with our delivery lead)
  • Develop a deep understanding of our IT GTOM process, acting as the engineering SME and driving compliance with it across the team
  • Building a network within Deloitte IT to smooth out our delivery process and unblock key challenges

As an Engineering Lead you will be joining the UK Digital Services team within our Enabling Functions. Our purpose as a team is to engage with and co-create consumer grade digital experiences for our own employees so that they feel supported and inspired by the firm. In this role, you will be responsible for leading our product development team from an engineering perspective, and will act as the lead Creative Heart of the engineering team.

This role consists of a blend of thought leadership - both technical and product development, hands on work, and building a strong network within the business. You will be a lead-by example leader for the team, drive and nurture a culture of self-organised and accountability within the team and engineers in particular.

You will be passionate about architecting and helping build secure, scalable web and native applications on cloud platforms. You will have commercial experience delivering solutions on technologies like .NET Core, C#, SQL Server, NodeJs, and PostGres on the Azure Cloud platform with Azure DevOps.6 and have delivered both mobile and desktop solutions.

Key responsibilities

Specifically, you will:

Skills and experience

  • You should have the ability to map business opportunity to best suitable and feasible technical choices for both production readiness and quick innovation spikes
  • You invest your time in developing individuals and are comfortable delegating responsibilities among team members whilst retaining ultimate accountability for their work
  • You will have experience of forming and spearheading a united and collaborative engineering leadership to build modern, scalable, and maintainable solutions
  • You will have extensive experience in technical project execution/leadership, designing, building and deploying enterprise solutions with exposure to multiple software packages/vendors, programming languages and technology platforms with analytics
  • You will be have extensive experience of Azure PaaS services: Azure App Services, Azure SQL DB, Azure data factory, Azure Storage, Cosmos DB etc
  • You will have a T shaped profile with a practical working knowledge of Programming Languages: .Net Core, C#, T-SQL, NodeJs, Javascript, React, SwiftUi
  • You are well versed in managing a CI/CD pipeline using Azure DevOps
  • IT project and product management experience and knowledge of application lifecycle management (ALM) methodologies, including Agile and Scrum
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies, learn quickly and pass on to other team members
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communicator and decision-maker
  • Any Administrator / DevOps / Security certification on the Azure platform will be beneficial
