The Team

Within A&M, a specialist team is being assembled in EMEA to provide Quantum, Delay and Technical Expert Witness advisory services to the Construction industry. Our newly created Construction Disputes team will support clients and work with law firms to provide expert advisory and expert support in construction claims and dispute matters.

Building on our reputation for high quality work in a non-Audit environment and an approach characterised by a high level of objectivity, diligence, and intensive analysis, our Construction Disputes team benefits from the backing of our global Disputes & Investigations team and close collaboration with our highly successful Turnaround and Restructuring teams. We are uniquely placed to provide end to end support on every aspect of a Construction Dispute.

The Role and Responsibilities

We are looking for an Associate in London to work as part of the team and support the lead testifying expert with forensic investigation and analysis of issues related to disputes on large construction projects. You will:

  • Gather data relating to the dispute and create and input the data into spreadsheets;
  • provide detailed delay analysis on disputes that are preparing for arbitration or litigation through independent and impartial analysis;
  • Help produce and draft sections of the expert report in conjunction with the Delay team to submit to the court for testimony and cross-examination;
  • Liaise internally and externally with other parties involved in the dispute including lawyers, the client, other team members, and professionals involved in the engagement, and
  • Deliver a quality product within agreed timeframes.

The Requirements

Ideally, you must be a project planner or delay analyst with experience in the construction field, a firm understanding of construction management and knowledge of the various techniques involved in delay analysis and/or expert reports. In addition, you will be:

  • Degree educated in Engineering, Construction Management or other project related disciplines
  • An effective communicator - both written and verbally; fluency in English is essential.
  • Highly analytical and have a methodical approach to problem solving; and exacting focus on the detail is essential.
  • Exposed to a wide range of contracts and project sectors
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and any associated planning software
  • Passionate about progressing your career in the expert witness sector.

Some prior experience of the adjudication, arbitration and/or litigation process would be advantageous.
