Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for the technical Strategy and delivery of the UK Cloud Engineering Customer Reliability Team. Providing guidance and best practise to the rest of the cloud engineering team.
  • You will be leading a team of 6-8 engineers who are focused on ensuring our customers are getting the most out of our platform offering to build reliable, performant applications that have zero barrier to change.
  • You will work with your team to build, monitor, and troubleshoot customer capabilities.
  • Your team will be the face of cloud engineering, owning customer technical requirements.
  • You will own the customer onboarding process and program, ensuring that customers can get the most from our platforms ideally without having to raise a ticket.
  • You will own the rapid prototyping initiatives, working with customers in a satellite model to quickly develop urgent customer requirements.
  • You will work with service providers to ensure Vodafone is getting the most out of their platforms.
  • You will lead on sustainable incident response and blameless post-mortems.
  • You will use your expertise of the latest services and capabilities to conduct talks to the wider Vodafone engineering community and the external engineering community.

    As an SRE manager at Vodafone, your leadership within Cloud Engineering will be pivotal to advancing and delivering our Cloud strategy across the UK. We're on a mission to bring a consistent, pipeline driven engineering experience for our develops within the UK and beyond. As a part of the Cloud Engineering team, your responsibility will be to coach and lead others in championing platform engineering/SRE best practise and making every interaction with cloud engineering as easy as possible. This isn't just a people management role; you will lead a team of talented SRE's who hands on building are and supporting hundreds of developers. We're looking for a candidate that can think and communicate strategically but also roll their sleeves up and get involved in technical challenges supporting our engineering teams.

    Who you are



    • You will have in-depth software development experience, knowing how to write distributed, high-performing applications.

    • You will have experience in building, securing, and running globally distributed systems.

    • You will use your deep knowledge and experience of DevSecOps tooling and services to understand, monitor and mitigate challenges concerning the security posture of our cloud infrastructure.

    • You will have the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

    • You will have experiences of working with cloud computing, specifically AWS or GCP, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and/or CloudFormation)

    • You will have a proactive and systematic attitude to problem-solving: looking to find areas of improvement and performance bottlenecks.

    • You will have in-depth knowledge of CI/CD and enabling DevSecOps at scale.
