Responsibilities

  • You'll be working in a cross-disciplinary feature team and will closely collaborate with the business configuration engineers, Application Subject Matter Experts, and the business themselves to help with complex data manipulations and to check test results. Ultimately, you'll be focussed on doing what is best outcome for the customer and end user of the system.
  • You'll work in an Agile/SCRUM environment where all work will be transparent and visible to the entire team and use Jira to collaborate and document your work. Software engineers can't work in isolation, and collaboration and understanding of what your users and customers need and want from your work is also a key skill. You'll be supporting a range of projects and will keep an eye on the long-term goals while delivering value daily.
  • You'll be a keen problem-solver, have an analytical approach to working and be comfortable adhering to technical guidelines, principles, and frameworks. You'll be familiar with the group's engineering design standards needed to engineer the best solutions and a strong proponent of coding best practises. You'll be curious and innovative in your approach to learning, keen on learning while doing and supporting others to learn.
  • There is also plenty of scope for the role in the future, with some exciting activity around DevOps and continuous integration pipelines, automation testing and new technologies to learn.

    Software Engineer

    Salary: £68,202 to £75,780

    Location: Bristol

    Hours: Full time

    Working Pattern: At least 2 days per week in our Bristol office.

    The Opportunity

    This is a multi-system software engineer role. You will be placed within a feature team as their lead engineer - giving them the ability to look after multiple systems based on SAP technologies. This is not a solely software engineering role as there will be configuration engines to configure, infrastructure projects to support and junior configuration engineers to support. A big focus in this role is to build out and support code management in GIThub, building Devops pipelines and understanding how to make code and config easily deployable.

    What do you need to be considered for this job?

    Generally, you are comfortable in a hands-on technical role, blending both software technical expertise, accounting understanding and the ability to collaborate with a team.

    We encourage people from a range of role and industry backgrounds but do need to see the following as a minimum for consideration:

    • Analysis skills for changes in configuration engines
    • Agile / Scrum working, using Jira and working within agile ceremonies
    • DevOps and GIT, management of configuration engineering and configuration routes to live.
    • Basic understanding of infrastructure, application stacks, and SAP landscapes.
    • Technology Risk management
    • Technical steward activities for all applications owned by feature team

    Nice to have

    • Understanding of SAP infrastructure and systems.
    • APAB coding experience
    • Understanding of accounting reporting / regulatory reporting and general accounting practises.
