Responsibilities

  • Leading on issue management, communicating and facilitating resolution
  • Leading a development focused team and demonstrating continuous learning and self-development.
  • Leading the operations of the team including managing capacity, ensuring daily/monthly/quarterly deadlines are met
  • Interpreting and implementing financial accounting matters and Banking transaction impacts
  • Providing SME knowledge and collaborating with the Value Streams/Platforms to support requirements & delivery of change programmes
  • Establishing effective relationships with stakeholders including presenting at senior level meetings
  • Ensuring that a large number daily and monthly manual interface and ledger adjustments underpinning the balance sheet accounts are performed in a timely, complete and accurate manner
  • Managing delegated authority and ensuring payment activity is performed correctly within deadlines
  • Detailed understanding of operational risk and oversight activities to ensuring risks are understood and that controls are effective
  • You'll lead and develop a team (approx. 30 colleagues) and as a Senior Manager, you'll role model strong financial control behaviours; you'll be leading a team through coaching, feedback and mentoring. Influence key senior stakeholders and contribute to broader strategic direction and business decision making by providing insight, control and thought leadership.

    TITLE: Senior Finance Manager - Accounting Operations

    LOCATION: Bristol

    HOURS: Full time

    WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending two days per week, or 40% of our time at our Bristol Harbourside office.

    You'll join us in Group Finance Support and Finance Data & Analytics Office (GFS & FDAO), a team of c600 colleagues within the Finance Division, providing centralised support and expertise to the rest of Finance and the Business. The Accounting Operations team within GFS has responsibility for performing operational reconciliations and finance transactions to achieve a complete month end ledger position.​ You will also be expected to play an active role within the Extended Leadership team within GFS.

    What you'll be doing:

    What you can bring to the role:

    • A qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or have alternatively gained a similar level of expertise acquired through substantial experience in a finance function
    • Passion for Financial control and reporting and questioning mindset;
    • Experience of leading a team
    • Strong background of delivery and driving continuous improvement against a constantly evolving landscape
    • Bring a problem-solving approach with the ability to challenge and constructively debate key issues
    • Works collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders, utilising well-developed relationship skills
    • Ability to assess the impact of change on products, systems, processes and people.
