Responsibilities

  • Providing coordination and strategy for execution of the systems engineering across collaborative Integrated Product Teams (IPT), overseeing the Systems Team Leaders and working with Engineering Product Managers
  • Defining top level packages of systems engineering work, size and time phasing, for new product development across the IPTs. Uncovering and communicating emerging issues, facilitating risk and opportunity management to enable successful outcomes
  • Managing the systems team allocation, capability and skillset required across the IPTs in order to support the critical path and project milestones successfully
  • Identifying levels of resources, dependencies or help required from other teams or parts of the business and pro-actively engaging with functional managers and the department to secure these or communicate change
  • Providing guidance, coaching and nurturing talent in team leaders and other engineers to enable a motivated and resilient systems team that plays to its strengths whilst developing and sharing knowledge
  • Facilitating implementation of initiatives and latest systems best practice or toolsets to enhance the team capability and performance whilst sharing to benefit the wider business

    Salary: Up to £80,000 depending on experience

    What you'll be doing:

    Your skills and experiences:

    Essential:

    • Proven experience in leading teams of systems engineers to develop new systems in relevant product markets and/or domains, such as one or more of the following; control systems, real time displays, safety related systems, or systems containing multiple technical disciplines
    • Proven experience in systems engineering, may include one or more of the following; requirements management, design or safety analyses, modelling, simulation
    • A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant Scientific/Engineering subject (e.g. Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Physics or Mathematics)

    Desirable:

    • Experience using tools such as DOORS, Siemens Polarion, Enterprise Architect, MATLAB, Simulink and design methodologies such as SysML and Model Based Engineering
    • Customer and/or supplier liaison experience for technical aspects, verifying and obtaining agreement that customer needs are satisfied
    • Experience in system integration, verification or certification

    The Systems Engineering team:

    You'll be part of the development and supply of products across a diverse mix of commercial and military platforms; Head Up and Head Worn Displays, Safety Critical Pilot Control and Vehicle Control Systems. We encourage our Systems Engineers to gain a breadth of knowledge across these domains to become subject matter experts in one or more product domain, or systems engineering specialism.
