    Why this job matters

    BT is building an Emergency Service Network that will underpin all UK blue light service providers. This role is a key enabler for the delivery of these critical services. The scale of this network will encompass the whole of the UK and will be available to all Emergency Services.

    This role is a lead design role for the underlying Emergency Service, mission critical, core network, including a number of bespoke services tailored to our Blue Light Customers. As such the role holder will be working on the UK's “state of the art” Mobile Emergency Services Network, designing and developing new critical services. This role will require the holder to lead the design, integration, test and implementation of mission critical core elements as part of the Emergency Services Network, including leading the design functions associated with vendor selection.

    This role can be based in London, Birmingham, Ipswich or Bristol.

    What we would like to see on your CV

    • Excellent knowledge of SIP protocol (including RTP) and of Voice Technologies such as B2BUA, Session Boarder Controllers, SIP Gateways, Media Resource Managers. Must be able to decipher traces and design new SIP Services
    • Excellent understanding of IMS Technologies from P-CSCF to I/S-CSCF as well as detail TAS knowledge
    • Proven experience of Mobile Core Architecture and be able to identify key integration points with IMS. Must be able to develop High Level as well as Low Level design for complex voice applications
    • Understanding of Push to Talk technologies, infrastructure virtualisation (private cloud) and principles of Voice security architecture (IPSEc, Encryption etc), would be advantageous
    • The successful candidate must be willing to undergo up to SC Level Government Clearance which requires residence in the UK for a minimum of 5 years

    This role offers a 3 together, 2 wherever working model. This means you are required to be at your contractual location 3 days a week with 2 flexible days per week.
