Responsibilities

  • Professional Engineering guidance and authorisation of plant modifications / software changes, MERPs data, routines and maintenance tasks.
  • Authorisation of SOP's and Engineering drawings / Design Specs
  • Continually improving plant, equipment and control systems in order to deliver better, faster, lower cost products.
  • A technical specialist, responsible for exploiting new engineering technologies and development and implementation of best practice.
  • Requires a high degree of problem solving and the ability to troubleshoot, facilitate decisions and weigh-up advantages and disadvantages in order to provide solutions. Carry out failure investigations and recommending improvements in design or practices
  • Interpretation and application of standards & regulations is essential.
  • Assists in offsite automation recommendations/decisions within the Agile Shared Service. Also, provides recommendations, effective solutions and guidance to Engineering staff and project design staff.

    Control Systems & Instrumentation Engineer

    GSK is currently recruiting for an Control Systems & Instrumentation Engineer to join out team at our Montrose site. The Control Systems & Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for supporting all automation matters on the Montrose site , contributing to safety, quality, validation, policies, standards, projects & maintenance.

    The role is to provide specialist technical knowledge for operational support, continuous improvement, , plant modifications, EHS programmes and projects. You will contribute towards the design, installation, commissioning, and validation as well as maintenance philosophies of instrument & control systems.

    In this role you will…

    • HNC in Instrumentation/Measurement and Control or relevant proven experience.
    • Previous experience of instrumentation engineering

    Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

    If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

    • Professional Registration with the Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET) or Institute of Measurement & Control (IMC)
    • Experience of working in a manufacturing environment
    • Knowledge of functional safety
    • Knowledge of working in hazardous environment
    • Relevant engineering degree
