    Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

    Location: Portsmouth Broad Oak, we offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

    Salary: Up to £55,210 dependent on experience

    What you'll be doing:

    • Responsible for designing and developing key Mechanical systems within the Underwater Weapons sector
    • Providing technical engineering support and guidance to mechanical engineering design activities for new and legacy products
    • Undertaking functional design and/or providing qualification and evidence for acceptance, fitness for purpose, regulatory & legislative requirements, and safety
    • Providing assurance that the design is adequate i.e., it is robust, and provide supporting documentation for the safety case
    • Contributing to and leading design review discussions/meetings
    • Assisting Engineering Governance and Requirements Capture activities
    • Taking part in supplier/stakeholder meetings
    • Supporting the development of other early careers engineers within the discipline

    Your skills and experiences:

    • Have a detailed understanding of the principles and approaches underpinning mechanical engineering design and development. Will have an understanding, knowledge and experience in mechanical engineering design and development of systems, sub-systems, assemblies and components
    • Strongly desirable to have experience in one of the following: Thermal Systems, Fluid Systems, HP Systems, Computational Fluid Dynamics
    • Requires excellent communication and diplomacy skills; must understand technical instructions and be able to communicate technical information to others
    • Typically, be at CEng level (or equivalent level of capability) or in the final stages of achieving CEng status
