    About this opportunity

In the Economic Crime Prevention (ECP) Platform, our mission is to reduce harm to our communities by enhancing the Group's capability to prevent, detect and respond to economic crime. The Platform sits within Consumer Relationships and plays a critical role in providing services across the whole Group.

With the move to cloud as part of our Tech and Data Strategy, we have a requirement for a key member of the team to support design, estimate and monitor the ongoing costs associated with the use of our area.

    Here's where you'll make a difference:

As a Cloud FinOps Engineer your role can be flexible depending on the team's needs, and your own aspirations. Our goal is to help you develop in a way that fulfils you and create an environment where you can do what you enjoy.

    • You'll design and lead the ECP platform's approach to Cloud FinOps on all our cloud platforms.
    • You'll work with the platform's Solution and Data Architects to optimise our designs to optimise ongoing cost and maximise the sustainability outcomes of our cloud implementations.
    • You'll work with the teams to ensure that the design and labelling of our cloud implementations underpin a strategic cost model for the platform's cloud-based activities.
    • You'll take ownership of the monitoring of ongoing cloud operational expenditure against budget and ensure that alerting is in place to warn when things are going wrong.
    • You'll work with the platform's central business support team to ensure that Cloud expenditure reports are created in an accessible, informative, and timely manner, and that forecasts are created, and adjusted when required.
    • You'll feed back to the teams such as engineering and solution, driving the operational costs to optimise their usage of the cloud platforms.

    What you'll need

We believe that people don't fit neatly into roles, and we value everyone's individual skills, experience, and knowledge — it's what makes you amazing! As a minimum to be considered, we would like to see demonstrated experience of:

    • You'll have a Cloud Engineering background with commercial experience in the implementation of cost-effective solutions.
    • Experience working with consumption based cloud platforms
    • Experience of cross charging internal businesses and raising external purchase orders and invoices
    • Understanding the different financial rules for treating OPEX, REVEX and CAPEX
    • Prior experience with cloud costing models, forecasting etc
    • Experience working on a major public cloud provider platform with knowledge of the cost levers that are available to public cloud consumers

    About working for us

Our focus is to ensure we're inclusive every day, building an organisation that reflects modern society and celebrates diversity in all its forms.

We want our people to feel that they belong and can be their best, regardless of background, identity or culture.

We were one of the first major organisations to set goals on diversity in senior roles, create a menopause health package, and a dedicated Working with Cancer initiative.

And it's why we especially welcome applications from under-represented groups.

We're disability confident. So, if you'd like reasonable adjustments to be made to our recruitment processes, just let us know.

We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:

    • A generous pension contribution of up to 15%
    • An annual bonus award, subject to Group performance
    • Share schemes including free shares!
    • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping.
