    SALARY: £66,861 - £90,000 per annum

    LOCATION: Edinburgh or Leeds

    HOURS: Full-time – 35 hours per week

    WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites in either Edinburgh or Leeds.

    ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

    An exciting opportunity has arisen to join out Modern Workplace Lab as part of our Infrastructure Engineering team at Lloyds Banking Group (LBG), based in Leeds or Edinburgh.

    As one of our Azure Virtual Desktop Automation (AVD) Engineer you'll participate in a team developing, testing and maintaining virtualisation solutions for across the bank.

    In addition, you will play a pivotal role in:

    • Developing these visualisation solutions which will bring genuine benefit based on business requirements;
    • Mentoring and furthering the skills more junior colleagues to improve capabilities within the team.
    • Innovating within our technology space and challenging conventional thinking;
    • Influencing a new approach to technology change underpinned by modern principles; and
    • Liaising and working closely with vendors to align their products with our strategic goals at LBG.

    WHAT YOU'LL NEED

    We like our teams to be as diverse as the customers and communities we serve and are really looking for someone passionate, ambitious and has a good problem-solving mindset. On your CV, we need to see the following experience as a minimum to consider you for interview:

    TECHNICAL SKILLS

    Infrastructure and Virtual Desktop

    • AVD engineering in a commercial environment (including being able to evidence capability up to AZ104 and AZ140 level)
    • AVD architecture, deployment options, management tools, and security standard methodologies
    • Infrastructure & Configuration as code concepts and tools: Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, Bicep, Terraform, or similar
    • Building and deploying secure and AVD environments through CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps
    • Image development and management using Packer or Azure Image Builder
    • Azure Monitor and Log Analytics for proactive monitoring and problem solving of Infrastructure as Code based AVD environments

    Automation and Programming

    • Automation tooling (e.g. Logic Apps, Functions, Azure Automation, Event Grid etc.)
    • Knowledge of PowerShell, KQL, YAML for automating AVD-related tasks

    BEHAVIOURAL SKILLS

    • Ability to learn and adapt: The cloud landscape is constantly evolving, so staying updated with the latest technologies and standard methodologies is critical
    • Resilience and stress management: Working in a high-pressure environment with demanding SLAs requires composure and the ability to handle challenges effectively
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills: Collaboration and communication with users, customers, and other IT teams are crucial
    • Attention to detail: Ensuring security, compliance, and optimal performance requires meticulous attention to detail and proactive monitoring
