  • Architect customer-facing applications, APIs, integrations with other systems using modern application and cloud native patterns.
  • Solution architects design and document the overall architecture of technology solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and requirements. You will explore and evaluate technology assumptions, implementation benefits, drawbacks and software lifecycle risks, issues and dependencies.
  • Responsible for our application architecture and the delivery of our engineering design deliverables and managing architecture decisions through formal governance processes.
  • SAs serve as a bridge between technical and business aspects, ensuring that the proposed solutions meet product goals and organizational technology strategy.

SALARY: £66,861.00 - £85,290.00 GBP

LOCATION(S): Bristol

HOURS: Full time

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in the Bristol office site

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Consumer Servicing and Engagement Platform for a Senior Solutions Architect. The Solution Architect is vital in ensuring the products we deliver are fit for purpose and meet the quality and standards that our customers expect. You will realise business value by delivering reliable, scalable and working software to production. Ensuring platforms and services are built consistent with industry standard methodology and standards and be responsible for the design and solutions for the domain application stack. Understanding application integration and E2E flow, and are comfortable communicating this at all levels, from senior partners down to root-cause analysis with developers.

What you'll need -

We believe that people don't fit neatly into roles, and we value everyone's individual skills, experience, and knowledge — it's what makes you amazing!

As a minimum to be considered, we would like to see demonstrated experience of:

  • Hands-on experience in system design/architecture.
  • Exposure in building solutions with API, microservices, event-driven architecture, software architecture patterns.
  • Expertise in modern technologies and application integration (RESTful Services, HTTP, OAuth), messaging, integration and data streaming technologies (Kafka, MQ etc..), caching (Couchbase) & database (RDBMS and NoSQL) tools.
  • Excellent knowledge on Cloud native architecture. GCP or Azure or AWS or OCP.
  • Previous hands-on experience on modern programming languages and application frameworks like Java 8+, SpringBoot, JavaScript, Golang, etc.
  • Ability to create solutions at conceptual, logical, and physical levels. Interpret the application/feature/component design to develop the same in accordance with specifications.

It would be great if you had…

  • TOGAF or equivalent qualifications. Professional Cloud Architect certification
  • Experience from a Payments, Retail Banking domain.
  • Exposure to modern Full stack (UI/Mobile and Backend) application architecture, Software development, build, deployment practices.
  • You'll appreciate and acknowledge the impact of system design decisions on scalability, resilience, security and monitorability.
  • Have played an active part in architecture and design governance.
